 Hello and welcome to my website! I am 17 years old and am striving to become a Zoologist/Photographer in later life. I have been doing photography for just over 2.5 years and have gone through many different, and often obssessive, phases of photographing things from portraits and abstracts to smoke trails and transport. However one thing has stuck with me throughout; Nature. Since I can first remember, I've been interested in nature whether it be giant Whales and tiny bugs or stunning scenery and fiery red trees in autumn, and when I discovered photography, I not only found that I could immerse myself in the wild where I am at my most relaxed and at peace, but I also discovered a way to express my feelings about nature. I made this website to do just that. I owe my obsession with photography to several things. Firstly a website and the photographers within it: TrekNature.com I came across it by chance one day and decided to join. From there on photography took over my life! I've made many good friends from this website and have learnt so much from them, both about wildlife and, the countries they live in. I can't thank those people enough! I was further inspired by my home tutor, Simon Handley, who often lent me his DSLR and took me on trips out to places like the river and countryside, which were brilliant for wildlife. What kept and keeps me hooked most of all though is the encouragement and support from my Mum and Dad who willingly get up at ungodly hours to drive me to far of places to catch the sunrise and generously loan me money so that I can buy the next piece of gear (I have to pay it all back of course!). I started off with a tiny Goodmans G-shot camera which served me well for several years until I grew out of it. So I bought a Canon Powershot S3 IS which changed my photography a huge amount! Finally I could be a bit more creative, experimenting with things like aperture, shutter speed and flash. Then when I found the limitations of the compact camera I progressed to the world of SLRs. I got myself a Canon EOS 400D and a small array of lenses which I'm using at the moment. I've paid for it all with almost a year's worth of paper-round and weekly babysitting! I also do Photo Requests where anyone can request a specific photo to be taken. See here. And finally I will do Photo Retouching. This is where you can send in any of your photos to be retouched to how you want them to look. See here. My prices for this and the Photo Request are considerably cheaper than a professional's though no less in standard.
